With the exception of any earth-shattering, Cannonball-specific news, from this point forward the best place to find any further updates will be the mothership, WalkSoftlyFilms.com. We do currently have plans for a Lexington screening of Cannonball at The Kentucky Theater sometime this Spring or Summer. Stay tuned to walksoftlyfilms.com for details and other fun things like new Space Cops episodes and what we have up our sleeves for the Lawn Chair Film Festival in Danville this May.

We had a great screening at the Community Arts Center in Danville, KY last month. Hopefully you heard about it on Facebook. If not, why haven't you used the handy Facebook button on the Cannonball homepage?

Our next screening will be in September as part of the Lawn Chair Film Fest in Danville. More details to follow. AND, we're excited to announce we will have a brand new web series pilot to debut at said festival on September 9th! So, it sounds like you need to be in Danville in September.

April 14 2010

Sorry for the delay in updates. Busy. Busy, busy. Too busy to write complete sentences.

First, Cannonball was named the Best of Show Feature for April in Microfilmmaker Magazine. That was cool.

Cannonball is an Official Selection of WIFE. Not your wife; although we do hope to win her over someday despite her fear of sasquatch. WIFE is the World Independent Film Expo. And that sounds important!

Another tidbit of news is that we hope to have a jazzy Cannonball DVD commercial hitting a cinema near you soon (if you're near Lexington).

Just a quick update of what is going on in Walk Softly Land. Right now we're waiting to get the yea or nay from another group of film fests. I'm designing a new, jazzy Cannonball poster and working on several other fronts in order to position ourselves as favorably as possible before we begin contacting distributors. If we can land some type of distribution, even if it is low-level, it could be the determining factor in whether or not we'll have the means to produce a new movie. Or not.

Hello out there in the land of nod. I hope your weather situation is teasing you with the hints of Spring like ours is here in the Bluegrass State. One quick update: if you haven't already seen it, Allen's first installment of his retrospective on paperboy films is up. It is here and it is awesome: The Classics. With more to come.

Things are looking good around here. Feedback has been great since Derby City and lots of stuff is happening pretty fast behind the scenes. Like Randall, "I'm energized."

Look for several things in the near future. First, Allen wrote some new content for the website that you're going to like. I'm working on some artwork for it now. More reviews of Cannonball will be popping up on the Net, in print, and on podcasts this month. Screenings of the movie are in the works for Danville and possibly Lexington in the near future. Plus, DVDs are likely to appear in local stores and rental locations soon. So, keep your eyes peeled for all of that.

And, if you want a DVD with the autographed insert or a page of the shooting script, you can still purchase them on the website. It's easy! Buy it here.

February 22 2010

Derby City Film Festival has come and gone! For everyone that made it out, we can't thank you enough and we hope you had as much fun as we did. We met lots of cool people who had some really nice things to say. And we got to see so many of our friends and family who came out to support. You guys are the best!

The reaction on Sunday was as positive as we could have hoped for and it makes us feel good as we aim at more Festivals, possible distribution, and begin working on our next project(s).

If you don't own a DVD yet, feel free to demand one from us in person. Or order one here: DVD Order Page And, please, tell your friends! We would love to at least break even on this thing. I have almost 1000 DVDs sitting in my kitchen. At least one of them wants to live at your house. Think about it, I mean, they're here all day...I don't give them any attention...they're just one out of a thousand. I come and go and never even say hello...

TA-DAAAAAAAAA! DVDs for sale on the homepage! So, happy President's Day to you! And if you preorder one (or more), happy day for us! Maybe we'll be able to do this again if we break even.

As noted, you DO NOT need a PayPal account to buy a DVD. You just select Credit Card Checkout instead of logging in. (It's tiny and to the left of the login.)

You might also notice that there are Twitter and Facebook icons on the homepage. You can click one or both of those if you'd like to follow us there.

February 14 2010

Happy V-Day. Lots of news today. You may have noticed that we now have a "Buy the DVD" button on the homepage. Expect that to be operational within a day or two. Possibly as early as tonight. But, please, check again on Tuesday or Wednesday. If you pre-order now, your DVD will ship as soon as we receive them (no later than Feb 22nd).

Also, if you live in Danville KY, you can check out an article about Cannonball in the Advocate Messenger today! Thanks to Jennifer Brummett for meeting with us and writing the story. When it goes online, I'll link it in our Headlines section.

We're gearing up for the Derby City Film Fest next weekend! If you don't have plans, come up and hang out on Sunday afternoon. Cannonball plays at 1:30pm and we should have DVDs for sale before and after.

January 20 2010

The task of making Cannonball DVD's seemed neverending, ohh but it has sooo ended. Now, if I did everything right, we'll have DVD's for sale on this very website in less than 3 weeks! T-shirts are the new focus and we should have some good ones available soon.

Don't forget, Derby City Film Fest is exactly one month away. Grab some tickets and come have a good time!

January 7 2010

Happy New Decade. Busy, busy around these parts. DVDs are in the works and t-shirts are next. Derby City Film Festival is less than two months away and we're excited.

We hope you had a chance to listen to the Derby City Film Chat podcast. You can still download it at any time at the link below or on iTunes. Our interview is 15 minutes into the December 29th episode. It's worth a listen. We even discuss traumatic childhood nicknames with our host Rommel Rommel Kris Rommel.

Remember to say hello on our forum and register if you're awesome. But, please, do not register if you are not completely awesome.

December 29 2009

Tonight, Todd, Allen, and myself will be doing an interview on Derby City Film Chat at 9pm. I believe we'll have about 15 minutes to plug Cannonball shamelessly. We'll try to make it awkward and entertaining as always. www.blogtalkradio.com/derbycityfilmchat

Also, the Press Kit has finally made it's way to the website! If you head back to the homepage, you can click Press Kit and voila. Right now, only a laaarge version is available. Tomorrow night I'll try to put up a smaller web-friendly version. I think it looks great by the way, and we can attribute that directly to our very talented friend Newsroom Robert Michael Startzman.

Thanks for checking in! Didn't I tell you we'd be updating more often?? And you had no faith in us. Don't forget to buy your tickets now for Cannonball at the Derby City film fest! And PLEASE, stop by the Walk Softly Forums and say Yo! Do it here:

December 15 2009

Today it was announced that Cannonball is an official selection of the Derby City Film Festival. Welcome to any new visitors who have been brought here by Derby City! Be sure to say hello in our Forum! We're quite excited around the Walk Softly compound. You'll notice that we will actually be making more updates around here as a result (because we have to). The fabled Press Kit will be available this week and the new trailer can already be found on the home page if you haven't noticed.

I read the last update below and the movie is even more done now than it was in November of last year as at least 16 minutes has been cut out and other portions have been tightened up.

More big news of the day is that we'll have DVD's for sale at the festival and on this website even sooner than that. We'll also have t-shirts and more swag at the Festival so come by.

November 25 2008

Done. Done. And doner. Cannonball...the movie. (And I'm not talking David Carradine's 1976 opus.) Time for yours truly to come up for air. Lots of STUFF has transpired since September. First, we took advantage of an extended deadline for the Slamdance Fest and submitted there as well. I proceeded with another two months of hermit-esque editing while making two more rough cuts.

Then, on November 14th and 15th we had our first screenings of this child of ours. Oh how long the labor. Allen, Todd, and myself stood against the wall in Danville Cinemas 8, Theater 2 and tried not to vomit while the first crowd of 125(ish) soaked it in. "How did it go," you may ask? We heard laughs; mission accomplished. The crowd was filled with family and friends so you have to take the positive vibe of those two days with a grain of salt, but we were relieved and grateful at the end of the weekend. After those screenings, I took yet another trip to the editing cave and shaved off about 10 minutes (based on the reactions of our audience) and called it a final cut!

Now, we are in the last week of November and it can safely be said that we weren't accepted into Sundance and moments are fleeting for Slamdance possibilities, but Faith is unwaivering.

Today I sent a copy to a film rep in New York (complete with a new full-fledged DVD case with artwork and everything: ooooooo!) and will mail one to South By Southwest tomorrow. I'm excited about the fact that these will be the first two submissions made with a complete movie; no missing scenes, no missing audio. Lean and mean with no excuses. I'll also be sending copies to our two awesome music contributors Aaron Raitiere and David Arnold.

For anyone who was at the screening and enjoyed the music, search for Dave and Aaron on the interwebs. For Aaron, Smoked Mullet is a good keyword. Dave Arnold heads a band named The Champion and His Burning Flame. They have a new album called The French. Good stuff! Find them and buy that sweet junk until the day an official soundtrack arrives!

Wow, I need to shut up. Start visiting the site more often as the updates will be flowing more freely now. A press kit will be the first thing to appear (complete with interesting factoids). A new trailer may be in the works (according to word on the streets). And you people can hold up your end of the bargain by starting to post on the dag-blasted forum!! It's fun. I swear. The first one is free. Just try a little. Just a little.

September 24 2008

The rough cut was done on time and it arrived at the Sundance offices on Saturday the 20th. We got confirmation today that the DVD was there and we are officially "under consideration." So, hoo...ray for that. NOW we wait for two months.

In the meantime... I'll be finishing off the final cut before October is done and we will finally have our theater premiere. Needless to say, we're looking forward to it.

As soon as the final cut is complete, we'll be putting up lots of content on this site. The press kit will go up almost immediately. Hopefully, that will be followed by a new and improved trailer.

We're almost there. Thank all you peoples soooooo much.

May 21 2008

As you may know by now, the first ten minutes of this movie has been posted on YouTube. You'll find no link here - don't be so lazy people. Also, that preview will only last for a limited time; two weeks tops. Just a little heads up to let everyone know this thing still exists and will be ready for a screening before the end of summer.

As soon as it IS done (thank you, Lord), updates to this site will be made on a regular basis. Join the forum, folks! We'll chat it up.

July 9 2007

Long time no update. Loads and loads of editing has been done since February. Plenty of brilliant songwriting/scoring has been contributed by the likes of Aaron Raitiere and David Arnold. That is the good news. The bad news: my estimates for completion were obviously bogus. We may have been done this month were it not for a massive personal issue that takes precedent over any and all sasquatch movies.

________________________________________________________

February 13 2007

Not much to report over the past few weeks. Editing is underway and we expect to have a rough cut at the end of the month or in early March. At that point, the movie goes away for some scoring and soon as it returns, we'll sand the edges for a final cut and screen this bad boy. Sorry for the delay in updates. If it happens again, you can track us down and distribute noogies as you see fit.

January 12 2007

All scenes wrapped shooting last week and editing goes into high gear today. We only need a handful of insert shots to complete filming. Aaron Raitiere has completed scoring a scene for us and that song along with others is in the mail, so a huge thanks goes out to Aaron.

We've been aiming at late February as a deadline to wrap this thing up completely and it looks like we're still on target. That means a local premier will likely happen at the end of February or early March.

A ton of work has gone into this website over the past two weeks to give folks a peek at what's going on. That includes some great journal entries from Tony Dedman and soon-to-be-added content from another character in the film - "Sweet Southern" Lou.

Thanks for checking in and keep your eyes open for updates here, Tony's journals, and elsewhere as new areas of the site will be going live day by day.
